Living on your own may be a struggle for some people. A main struggle is money. People are always trying to save any way they can whether they need to or not. If you are a college student living on your own then more thank likely you'll find yourself trying to save. I am 20 years old and I moved out of my parents house a year ago. I moved in with three different people I did not know. At first I was concerned whether I was going to like my roommates or not but soon after I found myself worrying about having enough money to buy things. I did have a habit of going to Walmart, and buying things I did not need. But after having to borrow money from my mom, It made me realize that I wanted to do this on my own without any help. so I found some ways that have helped me with saving money and being frugal.
what I found that worked best for me was putting money aside for important things like food. I do work and get a descent amount of steady pay, and iv leanred that budgeting is a solution. I would set aside 50 dollars for food. that means that I stoped eating out and started using the kitchen. I found it best to cook your food for two main reasons. one is tht is may be a healthier option and second it is CHEAPER. I also set aside money for other things like gas, and general things I needed for my apartment. so my advice to people living on their own would be to budget and set money aside. you might find that helpful because youd know that you have money aside for your general living.
